Historian, ALR Post 259
“Kill Switch”
Bluntly, join our group!
For Angela Apostolakis, riding with the American Legion Riders Post 259 is all about family, purpose, and the unmatched freedom of wind therapy. Fellow Post 259 members describe Angela as an “absolute sweetheart,” always looking out for those around her.
Though she first experienced the thrill of motorcycling riding with family in Greece, it was her husband, Rob Martinez, who got her back into the saddle. She has since spent the last seven years behind the handlebars of “Selina,” her 2019 Can-Am Spyder F3T. Known affectionately as “Kill Switch,” a nickname earned after accidentally hitting the switch during a roadblock, Angela serves Post 259 as Historian.
Off the road, this self-described workaholic stays busy managing properties and Airbnbs, gardening, knitting, baking, and volunteering for TNR and no-kill animal shelters.
At its heart, Post 259 is built on good people coming together for great causes, and Angela embodies that spirit through her passion for helping veterans and giving back to the community. Looking ahead, Angela hopes to expand her charitable work even further, continuing to prove that being an American Legion Rider is about far more than the miles you log. It is about the community you uplift along the way.
When asked what she would say to anyone on the fence about joining, her message is straightforward: “Bluntly, join our group!” She says it is lots of fun, full of good people, and supports incredible causes. It is basically a win/win all around, as she puts it.
Whether you are a long-time rider or looking for a close-knit family that rides for a real purpose, Angela and the rest of the Legion Riders are ready to welcome you to the pack.
