American Legion Riders Post 259

About the Riders

Who We Are

The American Legion Riders of Post 259 are a chapter of motorcycle-riding veterans, Legion family members, and community supporters based at American Legion Post 259 in Oneonta, NY. We are a chartered chapter of the American Legion Riders program, which operates under the national American Legion. We ride together, we serve together, and we show up for our community.

Our members include veterans of every branch who choose to stay connected to their service through action. We organize annual charity runs, raise money for local families and students, and provide honor escorts for fallen service members. When the community needs us, we answer.

What We Do

Charity Runs

We run three annual charity events: the 9/11 Legacy Run each September, the Foliage Run each October, and the Vets for Pets Run in the spring. Each run raises money for a specific cause. The Legacy Run funds college scholarships for children of post-9/11 veterans and first responders in Otsego, Delaware, and Chenango counties.

Community Service

When a Richards Avenue explosion left local families without their homes, we set up a boot drive on the street and raised $3,800 in a single day. We support Honor Flights, assist at community events, and work alongside Post 259 to serve Otsego County. If there is a need and we can help, we will be there.

Honor and Escort

We provide motorcycle escorts for fallen veterans and other honor ceremonies in our area. This is one of the most visible things we do as a chapter, and one of the most important. Riding in formation to honor a veteran's final journey is a privilege we take seriously.

Where We Ride

We are based at American Legion Post 259, 279 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, NY 13820. Oneonta sits in the heart of Otsego County, surrounded by some of the best fall riding roads in the Northeast. The Catskills to the south, the valleys to the north, two-lane state roads winding through farm country in every direction.

Our runs draw riders from across the region. If you are a Legion family member with a bike and want to ride with a crew that has been doing this for years, you belong here.

Our Partners

We co-host the Legacy Run with Red Knights Chapter 44, a fellow motorcycle club with deep roots in the Oneonta area. We also work closely with American Legion Post 259, Honor Flight, and local businesses that sponsor our events and believe in what we do.
