Who We Are

This website is operated by American Legion Riders Post 259, a nonprofit chapter of the American Legion Riders program based at American Legion Post 259, 279 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, NY 13820. We built this site to share information about our chapter, our events, and how to get involved.

Information We Collect

We collect information only when you choose to provide it. There are two ways you can do that on this site:

• Contact form. If you fill out our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you write. We use this information to respond to your inquiry.
• Mailing list. If you sign up for our mailing list, we collect your email address. We use it to send you news and updates about the chapter and our events.

This site itself does not set tracking or analytics cookies. However, some third-party tools embedded on this site (such as our chat widget) may set their own cookies. We do not control or have access to those cookies. We do not run advertising on this site.

This site does not currently use any analytics or tracking tools. If one is added in the future, this policy will be updated before it is enabled.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide only for the purpose you provided it:

• Contact form submissions are used to reply to your message. We do not add you to any list without your consent.
• Mailing list subscribers receive chapter news and event announcements. Every message includes an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. We may share information if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or as otherwise required by law.

If American Legion Riders Post 259 is acquired by or merged with another organization, we will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Email Service

Contact form messages and mailing list emails are sent through an email server operated by the chapter. Message data is transmitted securely and stored only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry or maintain your subscription.

Service Providers

We use a small number of third-party services to operate this site:

• SMTP2GO. Contact form confirmations and mailing list emails sent from this site are transmitted through SMTP2GO, a transactional email delivery service. Message data is shared with SMTP2GO only as needed to deliver those emails and is not used by them for their own marketing purposes.
• GoHighLevel / LeadConnector. Marketing and newsletter emails and SMS messages sent through the chapter's m.alrpost259.org platform are handled by GoHighLevel (also known as LeadConnector). Our contact form and chat widget on this site are also powered by GoHighLevel. Data shared with that platform is used solely to operate the chapter's communications and is not used by them for their own marketing purposes.

We do not share your information with any other third parties except as required by law.

Information Sharing for SMS Messaging Services

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except for aggregators and providers of the text message services necessary for delivering SMS messages.

Information sharing with subcontractors supporting services such as customer support is permitted.

All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. This information will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the text message services.

Data Retention

Contact form messages are retained only long enough to address your inquiry, after which they are deleted. Mailing list email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. We do not maintain a database of user accounts.

Your Rights

You can:

• Unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time using the link in any email we send you.
• Opt out of SMS messages at any time by texting "STOP" to the shortcode provided. Text "HELP" or call (607) 601-1273 if you need assistance.
• Request that we delete any contact form message you sent us by reaching out through our contact form.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We may email periodic reminders of our notices and terms. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
