Brendan Brigham

Road Captain, ALR Post 259

Camaraderie, and helping your local neighborhoods.

Brendan Brigham has been connected to the American Legion family for most of his life. A member of the Sons of the American Legion since childhood, Brendan honors a family tradition of military service that includes his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Today, he continues that connection as a member of American Legion Riders Post 259, where he serves as a Road Captain.

Brendan has been riding motorcycles for nearly 38 years, a passion that started at an early age. He credits one of his uncles with introducing him to riding and still remembers sitting up front on a vintage Triumph, hands on the handlebars, wind in his face. That experience sparked a lifelong love of motorcycles that has taken him from Triumphs to Hondas and Yamahas. Today, he rides a 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide.

Joining the Riders gave Brendan a way to combine his love of motorcycles with something that has always been important to him: giving back. Although he was unable to serve in the military himself, he has made supporting veterans a personal priority and wants to make sure those who served receive the respect, recognition, and support they deserve.

For Brendan, one of the best parts of Post 259 is the sense of community. He describes the Riders as a “huge family,” where camaraderie and looking out for one another are simply part of being a member. Whether he is helping support veterans, getting involved with local animal welfare causes, or riding with the group, Brendan values the opportunity to be part of something that makes a difference in the community.

When he is not serving as a Road Captain or out on his Harley, Brendan has another passion that is a little quieter: astronomy. Although he was not a fan of science in school, he later developed a fascination with the night sky and enjoys spending time with his Celestron C8 telescope. It may be a very different experience from riding a motorcycle, but both give him a chance to slow down, explore, and enjoy the view.
