ONEONTA, NY – The American Legion Riders of Post 259 are holding their annual Foliage Run on Saturday, October 11, to raise support for the American Legion’s Be the One campaign and its efforts to prevent veteran suicide.

Be the One is an ongoing initiative that the American Legion has launched as a means of building community around our veterans to ensure that someone is there to support them and connect with them when they need it most. Ending the stigma around asking for help is central to that effort.

Ensuring that training is available through Columbia University and the Department of Veterans Affairs, members are better prepared to deal with these significant challenges and be there for their fellow veterans.

The Foliage Run is primarily a fundraising event in support of Be the One. With day-of registration beginning at 9:30 and ending at 10:15, the run begins at 10:30 at the Oneonta American Legion at 279 Chestnut Street. Afterwards, there will be a 50/50 raffle, items being raffled off, and food. Participation costs $20 per person, and both motorcycles and cars are welcome.

The American Legion Riders appreciate the community’s support with this cause. Visit alrpost259.org/foliage to learn more, or call 607-601-1273 for more information.
