The Wall That Heals

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial comes home to Oneonta. Free, open 24 hours, and open to everyone.

What The Wall Is

The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It stands 375 feet long and 7.5 feet tall at its apex, and it carries all 58,281 names of the men and women who did not come home.

From Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27, 2026, it stands at Neahwa Park in Oneonta. For many veterans and families in this region, it is the first chance to stand before The Wall without leaving home.

Admission and parking are free. The Wall stays open 24 hours a day, and closes for the last time on Sunday, September 27 at 2:00 PM. Volunteers are on site around the clock to help visitors find a name and make a rubbing.

The Mobile Education Center

The Wall travels with a Mobile Education Center that tells the story of the Vietnam War, the Memorial in Washington, and the era that shaped both. Exhibits include photos of service members whose names are on The Wall from this region, and items left at the Memorial over the years.

It is a powerful stop for students, families, and anyone who wants to understand what the names mean.

We need about 200 volunteers

The Wall never closes while it is here, so it has to be staffed around the clock. Setup, teardown, and every shift in between, including overnight. You do not need to be a veteran or a rider. You just need to show up.

Ride It Home: The Escort

On Tuesday, September 22, the Riders escort The Wall the final miles from Cobleskill into Oneonta along NY Route 7. Ride with us, or line the route with flags and welcome it home.
