Chris Chase
Director, ALR Post 259
“Iron Man”
Vets, pets, and kids.
Chris Chase is not a veteran himself, but his connection to the American Legion runs deep. His father and grandfather both served, and as a member of the Sons of The American Legion, he is proud to honor their service and the sacrifices of the generations who came before him.
Chris first learned to ride on an Enduro as a kid, then stepped away from motorcycles for years while raising a family and building a business. In 2017 he got back in the saddle, and it quickly became a family thing. His wife rides, both of his boys ride, and even the dog comes along with her own set of goggles.
His path to American Legion Riders Post 259 started with a chance encounter at Home Depot. He and member Rob Martinez struck up a conversation on the way back to their motorcycles, and that conversation led Chris to his first Riders meeting later that year.
Since joining, Chris has brought an entrepreneur’s energy to the group. He served four years as Assistant Director and, as of 2026, is in his fifth year as Director, always looking for ways to strengthen the Riders, try new things, and expand how the group supports veterans and the community.
For Chris, being a Rider means having a reason behind the ride. Whether it is organizing a surprise visit for a 90-year-old veteran, raising money for a local cause, or supporting what he sums up as “vets, pets, and kids,” he believes the Riders give motorcyclists a chance to enjoy the road while doing something that matters. That same belief led him to start DryRuns.org, a series of alcohol-free motorcycle rides built around the idea that the road is the destination. Just as important is the brotherhood he has found within the Legion family.
That idea-mode habit follows him everywhere. When he is not at Directive, the IT company he founded in 1993 and runs with his family, or at BriteAgency, its marketing company, you will find him behind the handlebars of “Fiona,” his Harley-Davidson Road King, spending time with his grandkids, or out with a camera chasing landscapes and the night sky, the kind of shots that reward patience and showing up at the right time.
