Thank you for your interest in our Legacy Scholarship.
The American Legion Riders Post 259 Legacy Scholarship is available to graduates of an eligible local high school whose parent(s) enlisted in the armed forces on or after September 11, 2001, and are either on active duty or a veteran.
The monies for our scholarship fund are raised through our yearly Legacy Motorcycle run held in September to honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and for those who continue to protect our freedoms.
We are accepting applications for '23-24 until May 1st, 2024
Eligibility requirements for consideration of an American Legion Riders Post 259 Legacy Scholarship are:
- Applicant must be a legal child of post-September 11, 2001, active duty service member, or veteran
- Applicant must reside in Otsego, Delaware, or Chenango County
- Applicant must be a high school senior or high school graduate to apply for the scholarship.
- Applicant must be considered of good moral character.
Required: A copy of the applicant's High School transcript and the Veteran’s DD-214 form must be submitted with the application.
Directions: Go to the application and complete it (all applications must be typed). Save the completed application, then email it and additional required documents to .
This information on this application will be used by the American Legion Post 259 Scholarship Committee only and will be held in strict confidence. Recepients should be able to attend an ALR meeting to receive the award.
